Suggestion: Encourage Use of Realistic In-Game Names

Good evening,

I think a great step forward for roleplay quality on the server would be encouraging everyone to use realistic names instead of gamertags or aliases in the server.

It's a small change, but it makes a big difference. For example, it sounds far more immersive to hear someone on scene addressing "Adam" rather than "Potatoman26." This simple tweak can really enhance the realism and flow of RP interactions.

Changing your FiveM name is quick and easy, and while this is something players can already do on their own, it would be amazing to see this officially encouraged or even recommended by server staff to help push overall RP standards forward.

As always, feedback from others is more than welcome,

p.s. if your struggling for a name -

+1, maybe instead of changing it through the FiveM menu. A New feature like when you choose your callsign you can also add a name so every time you was to change your callsign your name you chose with it will automatically be on.

Hi,

Like the idea however don't believe we can force people to use usernames that are not deemed offensive. The workaround may be to introduce a character menu where players use their characters name and dont refer to the FiveM username instead?

While I fully agree this could enhance the RP experience, there are a few important considerations. Players are already free to choose realistic or nickname based names before connecting to the server, and we believe maintaining that freedom is equally important. Introducing an ingame name changing feature as mentioned by Olix could potentially lead to abuse, as custom names would not be reflected or recorded in the players txAdmin database. Even with custom logging, it adds an extra step for moderation when trying to identify players. It could also make it harder to enforce rules or follow up on reports, which isn’t ideal..

Lastly, I’m sure most are already aware of the upcoming CAD improvements that is currently in development. Rest assured, with this new system, will naturally encourage more realistic roleplay identities by design.

Moving to acknowledged.
