Suggestion Title: DSU/FSD Suggestions
Division: MET - DSU
Right, so this is a long one, so get ready.
I personally love DSU, but at this moment in time, the division is very boring, I don't mean to be rude to command, but that's just how I feel.
So, I came up with some suggestions, that can improve DSU/FSD as a whole.
FSD:
Dolphin: Right, I have been speaking to a sergeant about this before, but I'm putting it on here due to the fact that it could be great. With the new feature of Pickup/drop, we are able to pick up the dog when we feel it and drop the dog, when we feel it. Which could work perfectly with CTSFO. By repelling dolphin/NPAS, we are able to stop suspects quickly and work with CTSFO to neutralise all the suspects.
Ridealongs: FSD Buddys, I believe that FSD buddies should be a thing to regular units, which would ideally be good, cause not only do they see an insight of what FSD do, they still somewhat get can insight of what DSU do as well. It would be a cool decision/thing to implement and I believe a lot of fellow officers not in DSU would love it.
Scene Command: Another suggestion is scene command for FSD, what I mean by this is that that chosen person in the FSD thread can put loads of feedback, and monitor all FSD on that mini operation for DSU. And even on Friday ops, they can go upstage and explain how they think FSD did/how it all went. And feedback can be posted in the FSD thread, to show that we can all learn from some things, and ensure we follow the correct rules/regulations at all times.
FSD Trainer Or TL: So it's similar to the one above, FSD TLs were brought up in the forums, but were simply denied, which I believe isn't the correct answer. I personally think a trusted person should be chosen, to monitor/train and lead FSD. They can bring new innovations towards FSD, help out with training, and bring the workload down a lot from DSU TLs and Sgt+
DSU:
Open Day: I believe, every so often, DSU should have an open day, meaning that all units, including ERT/RTPC/AFO/CID and all other members branching off to CIV/LFB/NH can come down to the chosen area or even Davis, and showcase multiple DSU cars/dog peds we have. This would be good as it can bring huge attention to DSU, and get loads of members excited to Join when applications open. (This can also be used if it was for the whole policing side Of PMP)
Mini Ops: In team threads, we normally have a basic competition of HOTM, Handler Of The Month, which in my opinion, can get really boring. Each team should be selected for a different thing each month. Where that be how times we find drugs on a person/vehicle. Or showing a great attitude towards the division. Loads of things could come up, and I believe it would be great, to get the team threads active, and get the teams a lot of more competitive.
Advanced DSU: Now this may be a picky one, but I do see why, and why not. So Adv DSU, how I like this to be implemented into DSU is simply by making a training package and ensuring all handlers, that they know the rules when performing tactics. So the way this would work is, the vehicle is at a complete standstill and can perform the only move of taking the rear of the car. Which should be done very carefully, and not be done like idiots. DSU would make the move on the rear of the car, and safely bring the car to a stop. DSU would then do the normal duties of i.e Searching the suspect/car. The only time this would actually be performed is that the RTPC is lacking recourses and only DSU can do it on a standstill instead of an actual pursuit.
There we are, some suggestions. I do really hope these are thought about, as these suggestions can be a great thing to be implemented into DSU/FSD.
I love the division but at the moment, it's at a low. This is just my opinion: command is doing a great job at running this division, but I think more decisions/suggestions can come into place.
