Hello all,
After seeing a great idea by LT.Saint in RTPC musteroom, I wanted to bring the idea here to see if it could be implemented. This suggestion stems from the idea of having AFO/RTPC/DSU run in a separate channel when control is on. The idea behind this allows for CID and ERT to be in Ch1 for instance and have MET Ops in another channel. By creating this separation, it would tackle many issues, but also incorporate more realism into the game.
For example, by having MET Ops in a separate channel, it would provide them a space to discuss tactics, perform DRAs and utilise each other when responding to bigger jobs without having to take up valuable air time and allow for LAS, LFB and ERT to communicate in Ch1 alongside control. For example, AFO TPAC assisting in a pursuit when required. It's fair to say that RTPC, AFO and DSU are all very specialist divisions and work very closely with each other. By having them in a separate channel, it allows for better communication between these divisions. Secondly, we all know there is an issue with officers attaching to FTS's when not trained to do so and by having a different channel would therefore prevent this from happening.
F2 backup requests would still work the same way in that a unit from MET Ops can respond to a backup request and then utilise speaking face to face with the officer.
All in all, this idea adds way more realism to the game as MET Ops operate out of a different radio channel to regular response. It could even incorporate Ops1 by having them sat in MET Ops channel so they can be contacted directly and be able to hear the comms between MET Ops divisions and help with their justification to authorise stuff.
Ideally, two controllers would need to be on. One for Ch1 and the other for MET Ops.
Finally, it would allow for RTPC/AFO/DSU calls to be managed separately by control and utilized in MET Ops channel and keep ERT jobs separate to avoid divs stepping on each others toes.
What does everyone think?
