I Think it should be that you can apply to CTSFO sooner without having to be AFO but have longer and harder training and more frequent retraining. for example have; Driving training, firearms training, breach training, dauphin training, deescalation training. with a pass rate of 80% before you can deploy as CTSFO and then have training once every 2 to 3 months to that the quality of procedure is up to date.

It's a firearms role, so you'd naturally have to be in AFO to be able to apply for it.

That isn't going to change.

Well CTSFO is a voluntary, specialist, division that doesnt require you to be in AFO currently or previously and consists of large amount of training and regular retraining, its only requirement is that you pass your PC training and Probation, the reason i suggested this is because at the moment it is far off from being realistic because of how it forces you to be AFO first to be CTSFO where you dont actually have to be any kind of armed response to be able to apply for CTSFO in real life.

Good morning,

First of all, you are correct that you do not have to be an AFO or ARVO in the MPS to be eligible to apply for the role of a CT-SFO.

However, in PoliceMP, CT-SFO is considered a sub-division of the AFO division. This means that you must be an Authorised Firearms Officer (who has finished their probation and passed all the appropriate training) to be eligible to complete the following additional training packages:
  • PaDP (Parliamentary & Diplomatic Protection)
  • EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal)
  • CT-SFO (Counter Terrorism Specialist Firearms Officer)
I understand your point, but this is not something the command team would like to change for now. If you are interested in Counter-Terrorism policing in PMP, you can apply and complete a ride with one of our AFO buddies, who are always keen to answer your questions.

On the basis of this, I will be DECLINING your suggestion.

Kind regards,
[FS5] Jackomondo
