i understand with ERT and LAS it is to much too give evry person a callsign of there own due to the mass amount of members but with subdivisions i.e afo, dsu, etc i pressume theres only so many spaces avilable in the division henx apps only opening couldnt we give members a set call sign so ill give dsu for arguement sake, you have x10 and above for dog support say if there is 15 members in dog support (not actual figure just example) couldnt we allocate call signs to units and when they leave when new members join they would take the callsign that is been vacated this way i know there used to be callsigns but this would just be for sub division i.e dsu, afo, cid giving the normal level members a more feel of belonging if theyr known as x10 naturally or so13 etc say if afo have 20 members allocating 30 callsigns so you have 10 spare etc but you have callsigns for each member etc

Either I am silly, or how you've worded this doesn't make sense.

Do you mean every in specialist divisions have their OWN unique callsign like it was previously?

We used to have it this way, some divisions went over the 100 mark.

I doubt this would be accepted, as we have moved away from that for an array of reasons. Not to say that the officers within divisions are not somewhere they belong, they go out in force within that division which is enough to belong to something and to being known, you do that of yourself. I do understand having a set callsign though. The changing of callsign's from departures and arrivals etc from a Command perspective is horrendous amount of wasted admin time. Easier for control to organise their dispatches etc. There is a lot of positives to not having it this way, and some pros ofcourse.
