Advanced controller/specialised control
Afternoon,
I am going to post this in to see how people would prefer this.
I’ve noticed that being in comms or radio can be hectic and confusing at times, and being one person while juggling 70+ people and calls is hard work, my props goes out to anyone who does it.
I’ve noticed that it’s rare for people to have more than 1 radio operator on at one time, ideally there should be 2 and they should work in pairs. This got me thinking of an idea.
Specialised radio operators.
In the real world, the specialised units, have there own radio operator, a radio operator would deal with ideally traffic/firearms on one channel.
They have the most call ups due to them either pressing panic buttons or asking for authority to pursue vehicles and juggling 80 people and other calls and comms just gets everyone frustrated, I find myself begging for someone to stop talking so I can call up a pursuit (I would class a pursuit as urgent due to the high risk factor but others disagree)
I’m not sure how many people like being control, I’m unsure on the numbers that actively using it, but I believe people who just want to deal with the “Gucci” calls, should be given the opportunity to extend there skill set to a “advanced operator” so if people don’t want to deal with 80 people but want to have 1-2 hours dealing with smaller units to either:
This could be the option, either have it as people need to apply for the role or have it reward based
Would love to hear peoples opinions, I’m aware that an idea like this was declined previously.
And I’m aware that more control are on for the Friday night patrols, but the more I hear control getting panicked and flustered the more I believe it’s needed.
Have a great day.
