Suggestion Title: Control members

Division: Control

Make control more specialised and restricted on who is joining and how many people are in control. Our standards in control are all over the place lets be honest and we need that fine line. We need to be more strict with control because we're here to dispatch units for over 110+ people at any given time on busy nights however a lot of controllers aren't doing what we're trained to do and it is getting annoying for most divisions.

My overall suggestion is;
- Being more strict with entry to control such as appropriate and customised trainings to individuals
- More control checks after probation to ensure standards are being kept
- Better entry training and practical examination

Create a very BASIC entry theory side which only takes 30-45 minutes at most, THEN require said trainee to do a practical assessment for a minimum of 15 mins on comms and 15 mins on CAD and base all of their learning off of what they could do better before signing them off as a probationary controller.

100% agree I would MUCH rather have less controllers that are experienced than more controllers that to be quite frank make me want to shut down my PC and go to bed.

Thats what I am trying to get at. Fully agree

Don't agree with this, Everyone has to start somewhere.

You don't learn things in a day or a week it takes time for people to learn the roles, what they can and can't do.

Why make trainings longer than they already are, it already gives you all the information you need.

Literally restricting the role to those who are "Experienced" Wouldn't be giving everyone a fair chance.

I didn’t say about restricting to only “experienced”. I suggested about making it more specific to the person on what the training needs. Had somebody the other day not know how to use the cad at all after clynx done a demo for 40 minutes in their vc, yet he was great at comms and the rest. That’s why I suggested what I did about the absolute basics then customise it from there because it’s getting frustrating for the experienced controllers to have to teach people the basics when they should’ve been taught in their entry training. Same would go with every division, would be annoying for experienced rtpc drivers to try to explain/teach newer people about TPAC when they’ve just had their training. Etc.

We have to be seen to be inclusive and catering to all in the server, this would start to become 'exclusive'

Well then scrap the idea of restricting people, however do this. Would mean people get more learning in areas where they actually need it.

How is that any different to their training package, You the have your Assessment 15 minutes in both CAD and Comms and then the advances Control Training.

Because they do a whole training which takes like 2 hours, do that basic bit of controlling then are just let loose until their advanced entry whenever command decide they're fit. I am suggesting that they do a basic slide which takes very minimal amount of time, then do the practical side where a trainer takes notes and the bits they struggle on, EG cad, they can do an additional bit of training afterwards focussing on CAD etc. Means that they are being catered more towards what they need help with rather than just letting them go loose and not having a clue in certain areas.

Maybe for their first 3 sessions, they have to be supervised by a Trainer+ and the trainer can assist them with anything they need rather than doing it after 2 weeks of being trained. This makes them gain more experience and feel more confident if they're stuck.

The Assessment needs to be longer. The rest I was gonna say is stated above ^ :)

Whilst I agree that control hasn't been amazing as of recent, I do agree with kilted.

Everyone has to start somewhere. Those who have just become control aren't going to be as good as Clynx, TechGeek or retro. It's the experience they gain in the division that makes them better, and it will only improve with time.

Put it this way. If someone just joined RTPC, they aren't going to be as good as those who have been in RTPC for upwards of 6 months.

Even if you've been fully trained, it can still be daunting.

I've played football for years, at decent levels too, still get nerves etc if signing for a new club, it's natural to be daunted or be nervous when starting something new.

Hi Freddie,

Whilst I understand your concerns please be assured our recruitment process is strict and regulated, accepting those we believe could do a good job. However, we cannot make customised training for individuals. You could say our process is already semi-personal with the Adv Entry being 1-1, Trainer-Controller. We are doing our utmost to ensure high standards and this is also reflected in our training system.

Unfortunately, I am not looking to make any structural changes to our Training system however there will be entirely new content for the next intake.

Hence, this will be moved to declined. Thank you for spending the time to submit this.

We have already met to discuss your general feedback so I will close the thread.

Regards,
Clynx
